Houses of the Wheeling Terrace
When visiting family in West Virginia, I set myself a new mission: to sketch everything. It was an ambitious goal, maybe not the most realistic, but it pushed me outside each morning to capture the houses in the neighborhood. I challenged myself to work completely freehand, en plein air, and alla prima. My perspective skills definitely need more practice, but the important part was getting out there. There will be time to slow down and refine those lines later. For now, I feel I caught the unique charm of each house, and that made the effort worthwhile. I was just warming up from a long time being dormant.
