Fellow Conference Attendees
This sketch was my very first time sketching in public. About a year before graduation, I suddenly found myself drawn to art again. I could not fit it into my busy graduate student life the same way I had in the past, with undisturbed hours in a studio-like space. While at a research conference, I decided to sketch fellow conference attendees. Talks would go on for hours, so I would attempt to find a spot in the back and draw unnoticed. I tried to identify people who did not move excessively as an inexperienced sketcher. One subject, in particular, appeared to take great pride in their hair, which is why it caught my attention. I noticed that, days after sketching my subjects, I could rapidly identify them in large crowds.
