Cherry Snare

The Cherry Snare is a soft pastel painting of a snare drum imagined with a warm, cherry wood finish. This piece was created as a commission, but it became something more personal for me. The person who requested it insisted that they had no sense of style, which I could not believe. Everyone has a style, even if they do not recognize it in themselves.

After several hours of conversation, their love for music and instruments slowly became clear, and that became my guide. I was given complete artistic freedom as long as the subject was an instrument. The final piece is my interpretation of their taste, shaped by the things that made them light up as we talked.

The Cherry Snare became a means of discovering someone through art.
