2 Minute Mountain Sketch

My partner and I made a quick hike up LA (Los Alamos) mountain. I cannot quite remember the reason we were rushing to get to the top and back, maybe we had a firepit planned later that night. Whatever the case, we were trying to move quickly. I was also on a mission to sketch before the sun set, and one view in particular caught my attention.

To my right was a mountain with striking rock formations and deep shadows. The texture was unexpected and beautiful. I sat down and managed a two minute sketch. While it did not look like I got very far, I felt I captured some of the character of that mountain. One day I would like to return with the sole purpose of painting it more seriously.
